Postcard Project Update - Friday, November 18, 2005

I spoke to Judy briefly this morning on my way in to work. She was already at work and would have to call me back later. We spoke briefly of Corinna's 18th birthday (today!) and about plans for Thanksgiving next week. She will be hosting dinner for family and friends, I will spend the day on a plane flying to Puerto Rico.

Towards the end of the conversation she asked me (once again) if I was absolutely sure I didn't know who was sending her all this random stuff in the mail. I told her that I did not, but asked that when she called back later that she do it with the letters close at hand so she could update me on what new stuff came in, since I get such a kick out of this. She said refused to talk about the postcards anymore until she finds out who is behind it. Her reason, she stated, was that one letter came in from Massachusetts and said they were "just 7 miles from Corinna" and that another letter came in from Lake Tahoe and she knows that Cecelia has friends there. So, she concluded, "it's obviously someone who knows a lot." I said: "so you're not going to tell me about the new ones?" and she replied that she probably would. I agree with Cecelia in that she sounds much more amused and excited by the entire thing as opposed to scared.

On the camera front, it has been received and E.T. and my dad are spending time getting it set up. I'm starting to get a bit annoyed at the slow pace at which things are moving and I think that E.T. is a bit of a slacker, but luckily my take charge siblings, Corinna and Cecelia will be home on Tuesday to get a handle on things and get the first 40+ items photographed and submitted for the site.

A Conversation with Cecelia's best friend Crystal

Malice: Are you sending my mom postcards?

Crystal: haha, no... but I heard about that. That's really creepy!

Malice: Who'd you hear from? (because obviously it wasn't my sister Cecelia or else Crystal would be in on the joke!)

Crystal: from my mom

Malice: Oh, well my mom thinks that you're behind it.

Crystal: No way, she does not think it's me!

Malice: She does. That's what she told Cecelia.

Crystal: I wouldn't do that to Judy!

Malice: We know you're behind it. Just call and apologize.

Crystal: Ok, well i'll send her a postcard apologizing for it. How about that?

Malice: Only fitting.

Postcard Project Update - Tuesday, November 15, 2005

Good Morning Postcard Website:

I wanted to make my update last night, but of course, I picked the 2 hours when the website was down for maintainence. Things have been quiet on the Judy front, especially from my point of view. The last I heard about was CJ's letter. I didn't mean to scare you about the phone call, but you never know what Judy might do and I didn't want you to be blindsighted. I'm glad that she didn't call and I also encouraged Judy to write you a letter in response rather than call.

I checked in with E.T. last night. He reports that the camera is still at my dad's house and that neither parent has helped him to make arrangements to get it. (Thanks a lot, Corrin, I thought you were onboard!?!?). Sure I can take a little bit of responsiblity for not ordering the camera earlier but something has got to give. E.T. will be going to my dad's on Wednesday for visitation so he'll get the camera and learn how to use it then. Again, I do apologize for the delay, but I just spoke to my sister Cecelia who will be home next week for Thanksgiving and she has agreed to step in and get the pictures taken if E.T. hasn't done it by then.

I also asked E.T. about what cards and letters have come in and he informed me that Judy has been quite tight-lipped about the progress over the past few days. He also says that she considers the items to be "evidence" and is keeping them under strict supervision. Evidence of what I'm not entirely sure.... I've been avoiding calling her on the subject as to not arouse suspicion, but I NEED an update. I'll phone her on my way home from work.

In answer to the question of where Judy has travelled to: her honeymoon was to the Bahamas, we used to vacation every summer in a private community in Connecticutt called Old Black Point, near Old Lyme, on the Long Island Sound. Other vacations have taken us to many states in the U.S. including: Florida, California, Wyoming, Colorado, Montana, Pennsylvania... Others were driven through but weren't the main focus of the trips. 2 years ago, Judy and my sisters spent a week in Los Angeles with me... and HATED it. Judy has also been known to take a "Girls Weekend" to the 1000 Islands or Manhattan. Places she has always wanted to visit include: New Orleans (pre Katrina), Sedona and other parts of Arizona and Ireland (which is her heritage). For Judy's 50th birthday next August we are planning a trip with her and her kids (well, if she doesn't disown us for the postcards). New Orleans was one of the possible locations but we are now talking California wine country (Napa or Sonoma Valley) or Arizona. Feel free to recommend other vacation destinations that you've enjoyed.

As December quickly approaches, I am scrambling to come up with a good "item of the month". Judy collects recipes and I thought that everyone could send one, but then I learned that it would have to be a little more "prank-ish" than that by coming up with crazy concoctions or leaving out ingredients. She also collects small stones, rocks and shells for her chinese rock garden, but those pose a challenge with the mailing. I think some of your past ideas were so cute, like sending pictures of the kids (with wacky names written on the back) and I think that would be very appropriate for the holiday season, but I don't know how everyone feels about repeating past items. I'll continue to brainstorm, but if anyone thinks of something prankish and easy to mail, LET ME KNOW! Oh and by the way, I bought a key to send to Judy (I was thinking of mailing it to an out-of-state friend to mail for me). I bought it at one of those little key stands and it has the New York Yankees symbol all over it. I will scan or photograph it before it goes out.

Postcard Project Update - Sunday, November 13, 2005

"Hello? Is this Carrie Jean?"

How funny will it be if Judy actually calls Carrie Jean? What will they say?! You might be in pretty deep now Carrie Jean. This is so funny.

Have you been reading the comments? Dad (Judy's ex) is playing along and even giving us little tid-bits to taunt Judy with. Ah, the plot thickens.

I wonder if we will hear from "Dr. Tim" this time? That would be fun for us, wouldn't it?

You guys are doing a great job and so is Judy's family. Keep the updates and comments coming.
Jen
