Postcard Project Update - Friday, July 02, 2004

In a non-postcards related note, I hope everyone has a great and safe extended weekend. Keep it safe, be careful with those fireworks, and watch the kids around them. Drink a beer for me and tell your family and friends about our little prank.

Postcard Project Update - Wednesday, June 30, 2004

News You can Use:
Roscoe is home!

I have a 2 1/2 year old Vizsla named Roscoe (aka Roscoe the Roscovian, 'Scovie, Red Wiggly, Roscoepaceous Rascal) who recently returned home after spending 3 months with a trainer (he's a VERY naughty dog!)

Amy has a stage role!

The Good Sis is an actress and has a paying role in a play here in D.C. -- "Bedbug". Hey, at least she isn't starting out as a dead naked body!

Betty Anne and Vic are Taunting the Neighbors.

A little tale to tell. My parents built a beautiful patio and raised rock walls in their backyard. Then they also purchased a lovely shed (it looks like a little barn) for their lawn equipment. A few days later . . . "Knock! Knock! Knock!" some lady wound tighter than, well, let's just keep this clean, comes to the door to tell them that they need neighborhood association approval for anything they do to the backyard. She says "the patio is really quite lovely, but we would have wanted input into what kind of shed you purchased and where you placed it on the property." So, good old Betty Anne says: "It's not a shed." Wound Tight says, "What is it then?" and Betty Anne says "It's a coop for the chickens. They'll be here later this week." And she slams the door in the nosy neighbor's face! Way to go Mom!

Betty Anne Says "No" to Miniature Horse Plan
Yup. It's true. Mom won't let Dad get a herd of Miniature Horses. Poor Vic, he's got it tough. Why don't we all write Mom about how great Miniature Horses are and lobby to get Vic his Miniature Horse?

From Shelly: I got a card/letter back from Betty Ann today totally playing along with & responding to everything I said in my note that I sent with a locker key....
Does she know?
By the way- thank you so much for starting the postcards for kids site, I've sent to Jaslynn- What a heartwarming idea!!!

Nope, as far as I know, she does not know the origin of her mail...
and thanks for the comments about the PCFK site. Its already become quite popular.

Postcard Project Update - Monday, June 28, 2004

Well, Mom and I don't talk about this AT ALL -- I'm in deep enough as it is, and I think the longer I ignore it the more likely she is to think it's not really ME behind it -- that I'm just a stooge.

But, I did get some info. From Dad.

Someone sent Mom a Hickory Farms Gift Basket. Wow. So, thanks to whoever did that.

Mom also got "at least" 3 cards from Australia this week and she's received "lots" of cards from Janice, who, according to Dad, is traveling out West.

Dad says Mom has a big smile the whole time she's reading the cards and that she's going to try to write some more people back soon.

Just spoke with Mom. She's getting tons of mail, and still having fun with it. She says she's a little backlogged on the replies, but plans on sitting down this evening and writing some letters.

She says she has no clue how this is happening, but now she thinks her sister (Ruby Lynn) is involved. She thinks Ruby Lynn bought a whole box of keys at an estate sale a while back. And the handwriting on some of the letters looks, according to Mom, similar to the handwriting of Ruby's son. I pointed out that Ruby is quite sneaky and knows how to pull a prank, and Mom agreed with me. I think she's going to be floored when the "item" changes. She's getting used to all the keys.
