Postcard Project Update - Tuesday, July 19, 2005
Hi Will --
Please share this note of caution with the other pranksters. When I went to the P.O. late last week, I was surprised to learn that the $ .23 postcard stamp I had placed on the postcard to Jerry was actually insufficent postage. My ordinary-looking postcards were actually considered oversized cards and therefore needed a full $.37! From the Post Office's website: Regular size ($0.23 each): Maximum size: 6 inches long by 4-1/4 inches high Large size ($0.37 each): More than: 6 inches long or 4-1/4 inches high Now, I don't know about you, but I don't generally print my return address on postcards. And if your card lacks proper postage AND doesn't have a return address, I'm pretty sure there's a better chance of it ending up in the Dead Letter Office than reaching its destination with a note that "postage is due." So if others have made the same mistake that I did, that might help to explain why Sally seems to have received fewer pieces of mail than we've sent! --Julie |
